Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's Milan misery has come to an end as Bundesliga side Schalke have signed him for around €13m.
The Holland international striker looked on his way out of San Siro for much of the transfer window after failing to convince in his first season in Italy.
Speaking to Bild this morning, Schalke boss Felix Magath said: “Negotiations were tougher than expected. I am happy to have Klaas-Jan. He will help us.”
Schalke have lost their opening two matches in the Bundesliga despite the arrival of Huntelaar's former team-mate Raul.
The 27-year-old released a statement on his website today in which he revealed that it wasn't his intention to cut short his career with Milan so early.
“It's true I never wanted to leave Milan, but that changed when Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived from Barcelona,” he concluded.
